Service:
Excellent, and attentive - by the owner John (who has been here
3 years) and switched-on staff
Presentation:
Great rustic, and totally appropriate. Food and drinks well
presented, restaurant itself small, open to the street; funky and
relaxed adobe-style interior with niches for candles, decorated
with hand-painted Mexican plates etc. Thankfully not a fake cactus
or a sombrero in sight what a lovely change for a Mexican
restaurant.
Wine List:
Very extensive, the cellar was the largest I have seen in a resturant in a long time. All tastes catered for.
Value for
Money:
Very good, and decent sized meals for
the ravenous. The most tender shredded beef in the enchiladas ever,
and dont miss the coffee especial, with both Baileys and Kahlua
(words to live by), and perfectly crisp flavourful quesadillas.
Proof you dont need to spend a fortune to eat out well in
Port Douglas!
Ambience:
Friendly,
relaxed, personal and laid-back. White plank ceiling with fans,
tables inside the restaurant and out on the pavement nice touches.
The feel
good factor:
Lots of unpretentious charm
the place has a great feeling. We went 3 times in two weeks
at different times of the day, and enjoyed it on each occasion.
Interesting range of superhot sauces from all over the world, and
excellent desserts. Try the sweet tortilla nachos my husband,
not one with a sweet tooth, called them the wickedest thing
Ive ever eaten in my life.

One of the best
